About

The NGO Womens Rights and Gender Equality  Caucus (Australia)   is a large national voluntary activism network consisting of women’s and feminist organisations, national women’s alliances, private sector and individuals from across Australia.  The caucus was formed from a broader Women’s Rights and Gender Equality Network based in Australia who work on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality nationally, regionally and internationally.  Both the network and the caucus provide valuable spaces for women’s and feminist organisations to gather, share analyses, formulate common positions, and strategise linked activities and actions on common issues.

In the lead up to the 25 year review and appraisal of the Beijing Platform for Action, the Australian NGO Beijing +25 Caucus was organised in July 2019 from members of the network,  as a sub-group,  to facilitate a systematic and coordinated engagement by diverse feminists and women’s organisations, Alliances and networks into the official review of the outcome of the BPfA in Australia, the Asia and Pacific Region and in preparation for the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) 64th Session to be held in New York in March, 2020 and the Generation Equality Forums to be held in Mexico in May 2020 and France in June 2020.

At the International Level  the NGO Women’s Rights and Gender Equality Caucus – Australia  works with Asia Pacific Women’s Watch (APWW) a Non-Governmental Organisation in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (since September, 2007).  APWW is a large voluntary activism network based in the Asia and Pacific Region who work on  Women’s Rights and the Advancement of Women.
